About
I have been a committed Christian since my early twenties and when I worked in executive leadership roles in the corporate world I saw myself in full time Christian service. My current calling came in my early thirties when God led me to transition from ministering primarily through my career to within the local church.
I pastored for three years in typical small church after I completed seminary with great experience. I began to work on my Doctor of Ministry degree in church growth and leadership in 1985 and was asked to come back on staff at Bellevue Baptist Church in 1988. I was privileged to work with Dr. Rogers for ten incredible years of tremendous growth and for most of that time had all programming responsibilities for the church.
In 1998 I became the executive pastor for Dr. James Merritt at First Baptist Church in Snellville, Georgia. My role was to oversee all of the staff and church programming. In 2004 we planted Cross Point Church in the Duluth, Georgia area and saw significant growth. This was my first church planting experience and it was incredibly fast paced but very rewarding.
The year 2007 brought personal tragedy into our family when my son-in-law Jeff Adams died suddenly of leukemia. We moved to Birmingham, Alabama to help support our daughter and two small children. Although these years were very difficult for many reasons we have never regretted for one minute this decision.
During this time I did many different things that combined all of my life experience. One of these is to help churches with consulting so that they can become more effective in reaching people for Christ.
We moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2010 to begin this new phase of our life. I am continuing to do many different things but the one I really love is working with pastors and churches helping them to deal with all incredible changes that all churches are facing today.
